Strong prices, production news boost value of WA-listed miners

The market capitalisation of Western Australian listed companies, which comprise the Deloitte Western Australian Index, increased by 9.6% in January to a close of A$168.9-billion, the advisory firm reported on Tuesday. Deloitte noted that the Australian market continued to mirror the performance of commodities, with the energy and resources sector boosted by strong precious metal and commodity prices, combined with positive production results.
